The Hogg Island boa was once thought to be extinct.  There are now said to be a low number of surviving specimens on the Hogg Islands (an island chain near the coast of Honduras). These snakes are a sub species of Boa Constrictor Imperator (BCI) . They are naturally dwarf, hypo and very docile. Adults attain lengths of approximately 4.5 ft. These animals also have the ability to change colors, at night they turn very pale, and their pattern fades greatly. They resemble Boa Constrictor Imperator (BCI), however have bright orange tails instead of red, faded saddles, pinks and silvers vs browns and tans. They are also much smaller. Their small size is desirable to many because it makes them cheaper to feed, and house. These snakes also have a very sweet disposition and are easy to breed in captivity. Many offered for sale from other breeders are crossed or "hybrids" of BCI. I can guarantee pure blood lines with no crossing. I am the Premier Hogg Island breeder in the St Louis area. You will probably not find pure Hogg breeders in the St Louis Metro area.
